I am a NETA (National Exercise Trainer Association) certified trainer. I currently carrier a Certification in Personal Training and Pilates. I’ve also taken continuing education credits in the following courses: Intermediate Pilates, Functional Biomechanics and Stretching Anatomy.
Tell us about yourself:
I am a 33 year old mother of four living on the North West side of Wausau. I credit my husband, Jim for mentoring me through my professional fitness career and encouraging me to pursue this business venture. My favorite family activity by far is our annual vacation to Cancun. Throughout the rest of the year I enjoy exploring Wisconsin by hiking Rib Mt. and camping in the North woods, frequenting parks, going for bike rides and last but not least karaoke time in our living room pretending we are rock stars. In my spare time, I like researching new fitness programs. I like to challenge myself physically by taking long bike rides, running and creating new challenging workouts for my clients. I have a belief system that never changes. #1, Set Goals! Long-term and short-term. #2 Never Give Up! If you want something bad enough and it’s worth achieving, stay focused. #3 You Create Your Own Destiny! This one's pretty self explanatory.
Fitness Background:
I was never in school sports. I was a self-motivated runner who couldn’t even run a block with out exhausting all energy, back in 1994. I officially ran in my first 5K in 1997, not an impressive finish, but a finish nonetheless. Three more babies and ten years later, I ran a 5 mile race and took third in my age category. And again that same year, ran another 5K and took first in my age category and third over all for woman.
How long have you been training and or teaching fitness classes:
In 1998 I began taking Cardio Kickboxing classes at Wausau Health & Fitness; loved it so much I became an instructor. From there, I started subbing for various instructors and the personal training staff. My passion for helping people achieve their fitness goals continued to grow so I became certified and made it my full-time career.
Clients I’ve worked with:
I’ve worked with clients of all age groups from 10 to 70ish. From the most fragile clients (Post open heart surgery) to every knee, back and shoulder problem. The most common clients I assist are those seeking weight loss and woman wanting to tone and firm their body.
I specialize in…
I would say my specialty is creating fun workout routines for people that they can stick with by exploring various options that clients have particular interests in. Having four children myself, I know that challenges of “getting your body back” after pregnancy. It can be done. You can have a flat tummy again, you can lose the “baby fat”. I educate people on how to exercise productively so they get the most out of their exercise time.
Future goals:
My goals are to continue to research and educate myself, my team and clients with the latest, most up to date fitness techniques, programs and technology. As we become established in the central Wisconsin area I hope to hire additional qualified trainers to reach out to other communities interested in Fitness on Demand.
