Education and certifications:
Graduated in 2004 from UW-La Crosse with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Exercise Sport Science-Fitness, Writing minor. Since April, 2003 I have accumulated certifications in Yoga (Phases I & II), and Pilates through AAAI/ISMA.
I AM:
28 yrs old, and I live in Wausau, WI with my boyfriend Luke and our boys Zeplyn-weiner dog and Hurley-big Gordon Setter mutt.
Activities I enjoy:
Yoga & Pilates (obviously), walking my dogs (and boyfriend ;o) biking, kickboxing, swimming, snowboarding (I’m horrible!), dancing, music, writing.
Regarding health and fitness, what I believe:
AnyBody can do it! I won’t believe it when you say “I can’t” because I believe and I know that all it takes is time, patience, and consistency. I am here to guide you into becoming a more flexible, calm, serene being. With a slow, peaceful approach, you can become whatever you are striving for as long as you believe in yourself.
Fitness Background:
My professional “niche” happened as an accident. I was in school as a Fitness major (Spring, 2002) and needed to fill an extra credit for the semester, so I took Yoga-I’d never taken a class before other than random videos at home, but thought it’d be fun. As a beginner, I stood at the back corner of the room dumbfounded as the class went through their beautiful flow of Sun Salutations. I felt lost and clumsy and embarrassed but I kept on because I had to do it for the credit. Every class got better and better, easier and easier, and then one day I realized the benefits sneaking up on me. I hadn’t been having my chronic headaches anymore. My shoulders felt stronger, more muscular. I could pick something up off the floor without bending my knees. My temper seemed to fade away; I could relax. After every class I felt a surreal calmness that I couldn’t explain-and I wanted more of it. I found my passion and I never turned back…

Experience:
I’ve been teaching Yoga and Pilates for 5+ years. Beyond the “gym” atmosphere, I have taught classes for private studios, schools (UWL, teens, elementary, special needs kids, etc.), local businesses, retirement homes, chiropractic facilities, etc. I’ve also assisted Tammy Zee, MS (located in La Crosse), with several Yoga and Pilates certifications.
One great experience has been working with a group of cognitively disabled kids and seeing their progress both physically and socially.
Specializing in: Several types of Yoga & Pilates including Hatha Yoga, Power Yoga, Chair/Active Older Adults’ Yoga, Kids’ Yoga, Pilates, Yogalates, Yoga/Pilates on the Ball, Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced.
Future Goals:
I hope to progress with my fitness career in Yoga and Pilates instruction-in all areas and populations. I love it. I want to bring the benefits of Yoga & Pilates to anybody and everybody that I can; if I can help one person a day, I’m grateful. Fitness on Demand has brought me a great opportunity, so I hope to do all that I can to continue teaching for them, and assisting in any way to expand this wonderful company!
